Thor Would Definitely Make It On The Cover Of New Scientist

If I had to point to one aspect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that I like more then compared to other superhero films, like Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, or the X-Men films, I'd say it is the absence of secret identities. A case could be made for Black Widow and Hawkeye, because they are meant to be spies, but none of the Avengers have secret identities (the entire Iron Man series is built around this principle). And I like that. I like the honesty and forthrightness of a hero exposing themselves, and I like that the filmmakers haven't shied away from showing the negative consequences of everyone in the world knowing who these people really are (something I hope Captain America 2 will explore as well).

Nottonyharrison, on DeviantArt, has taken it a step further. With Western civilisation obsessed with celebrity and watching people self destruct, there isn't a chance in hell that the Avengers wouldn't be on every magazine, newspaper and tabloid cover (Tony Stark is seen on the cover of Wired in the first Iron Man film). That MSNBC and FOX wouldn't be talking about them non stop. So, Nottonyharrison has created some really rather brilliant mockups of what those magazine overs and articles would look like. After the jump I've put some of my favourites, but there are plenty more on the DeviantArt page, including lots of tabloid features which are just fun.

Hit the jump for more.
