Daredevil Done Right?

You know what, it's every time I step away, for whatever reason, that something I've been waiting for comes around. Last week, just when I can't seem to get my act together and next thing you know, the days are slipping by, that Marvel and Netflix go and release the first trailer for Daredevil. And I've been waiting for it, because I'm really interested to see how this is going to play out. Because Feige is playing the long game with the movies, and increasingly that game is headed towards space. And that leave very little room on the big screen for the "gritty" characters. What Marvel used to call Knights; Punisher and Misty Knight and those types. No powers per se, just focused and intense.

And really, that's probably what Agents of SHIELD's focus should have been on, but I'm thinking that long term, if Netflix can pull off these Defenders series, that we'll be seeing a lot more of those B-Listers popping up in limited run series. Personally, I'm more looking forward to Jessica Jones, but Daredevil will be the test, to see if a mini-MCU works. And based on this first trailer, it is at least promising. They certainly appear to have grabbed tight to the idea of bringing a more obvious tension - I hesitate to say grittiness, because that word gets overused - but certainly what appears to be a less finished approach than the films or ABC series do. I guess we'll find out in April.
