Come To Mars, We'll Get Together, Have A Few Laughs...

We're a little more than a month away from the release of The Martian (less if you're going to TIFF, where it will have it's premiere), and the final trailer for the film has been released. As I mentioned before, this is one of my most anticipated movies of the year, adapted from what is hands down my favourite book of the year (last year, I suppose, but I only read it in March). And I am hopeful that, because each subsequent release of footage has only increased or stood pat my expectations for the film, the film holds up in full length. I trust Goddard more than Scott at this point in their respective careers. But beyond that, if we could have three successive years with three monumental science-focus films (and mostly hard science at that), that would be more than I assumed possible or could ever have hoped for, and yet it was all I ever really wanted.

Actually, all I every really wanted was a Nerf Hyper Rip Rocket and a pair of Moon Boots. But three years of hard sci-fi seems like a more realistic goal. Dare we wish for a fourth?
